Skywatch Friday-Building Around Coleman Street (Part 4)-Central Fire Station

As I walked towards the end of Coleman Street, I saw this familar red and white building. Oh yes, I remember this. Each time when I visited my late grandparents during my childhood time, I would love to come here and watch the fire engines going out and coming in of the fire station.

It is one of the oldest fire station in Singapore and the building is so influenced with the colonial architectural designs. It is still in use today.

For other sky watchers, please hop over to Skywatch blog.

Thanks all for the visit and comments. :) Yes, it was built during the times when Singapore was governed by the British. That's explained the many buildings that have colonial designs similar to UK.

It is still very much in use.

Alex, that's my favourite too. When I was very young, I used to come here and watch the fire engines and sometimes when I heard the siren, I would have to stand between the pillars to make way for the fire engine to come out of the station. Life is so much simple then and fun.

Fishing Guy, yes I have lots of photos that are in other corners of Singapore that some Singaporeans dont go often. :)

I hope to feature more interesting corners of Singapore.

Awesome fire station. Looks very colonial indeed. Just like some of the buildings in Chennai, India. (Police Commisioner office on Beach Road).
