Decoupage Craft - Box

Recently, I went for a craft lesson on decoupage, it was fun and interesting. Did not know it was quite easy but need patience and creative mind.

Firstly, we need to smooth the box with sandpaper.

Then we need to paint the box with acrylic paint and let it dry, meanwhile we started to tear some patterns out from the napkins.

Then we need apply some decoupage glue and paste the napkins patterns on the box.

After drying, we applied varnish twice on the box and the craft is finished.

Group photo of the rest of the students's works.

Hope to attend more such crafts.

Pink Saturday - $2 shop

My pink contribution for this Saturday are these $2 products that I got from the $2 shop. It is so worth. Each item is only $2 and you just walked up to the cashier, she will count the number of items in your basket and times $2 and you pay for the total price.

Boxes to keep my crafts and batteries/memory cards for my camera.

Even these needles with the big eye hole that I needed for my crochet/knitting cost me $2 for a set of three. Been hunting for these needles for a long time. Great find. :)
I love the pink wool and I made a granny square but you will have to wait a long time for the finished product cause I need to make more squares and joined them together and it is very time consuming.

Meanwhile I get to crochet a scarf and I like it so much. I am not an expert so it is a bit untidy but seeing the scarf getting longer, the satisfaction is there.
I am almost done with the scarf and I need to crochet another 10 cm more. Took me about less than 3 days to finish this length during TV commercials...lol.

Knitting

This is the book that I borrowed from the community library from Compass Point Shopping Mall last week.
It refreshed my memory of knitting.

The last time I knitted was when I was thirteen and in Secondary One during my home economics class.

Wow am glad that I managed to remember how to knit with the help of the book.

I hated the colour of this wool but I found it in my storeroom...lol. The wool was a leftover from my son's project. I think I will have to add some colourful beads at the end of the shawl when I finished. Actually, I am not sure what I am going to knit this into...hahaha

My good friend, CC from Texas will be very proud of me with my knitting. She is always there encouraging me to try out knitting or crocheting. Thank you CC. :)
When I am successful with this knitting project, I will buy more wools that are not yellow in colour...hehehe.....wish me luck.

Hobby and Interests

I am proud of these little crafts which I hope to share with all.
I would like to give this pearl ring to my eldest sister. But I wondered if she like it. :)

This is a necklace which I crochet out of wires and added some stone beads to them. I needed to find the matching colour claps to finish it off. I would like to keep this for myself. I think it is very lovely.
I saw this tutorial in asiafanatics, thanks to these people who are not selfish in sharing the patterns that I could make a beaded star. Thank you so much.

If you are interested in crafts, it is still not late to do one for your mom for mothers day. I know my late mom would love these.

Ang Pow Lanterns

Ang Pow (hokkien language) or Hung Bao (mandarin language) also known as "red packets". The ang pow contained gifts of money. They are considered extremely auspicious to receive as a gift. They are commonly used for Chinese New Year, weddings, birthdays or happy occasions.

Ang pows can also used to make handicrafts. It is very common to find DIY ang pow lanterns in most chinese homes in Singapore. Only staples and glues are used to form the shapes of the lanterns. Accessories are then added to make them prettier. Ang Pows lanterns can only be found in Singapore and Malaysia but I have no idea who started this trend. The person is a genius who started this.

These are made by me. I am not very good in making them. There are prettier ones make by others. You can view them in here.
