Singapore Sports Hub/Kallang Wave Mall - Rock Climbing
Finally the Singapore Sports Hub was completed, so we decided to head to the new stadium to admire the beautiful building. Will post details about the building in another post. The complex costs $1.3 billion to build.
We took the MRT and alighted at the Stadium Station. The Stadium Station was named after the stadium in the vicinity. It was designed by WOHA Architects and was awarded with Design Of The Year of the President's Design Award 2010.
There's a mall beside the Sports Hub Building and was named Kallang Wave Mall. The wave (known as the Mexican wave in the anglosphere outside North America) is an example of metachronal rhythm achieved in a packed stadium when successive groups of spectators briefly stand, yell, and raise their arms. Immediately upon stretching to full height, the spectator returns to the usual seated position. In Singapore the wave is known as the Kallang Wave, and is widely seen as a symbol of Singaporean national identity. It is routinely performed at football matches involving the Singapore national football team or Singapore LIONSXII. The Kallang Wave is named after the location of the National Stadium in Kallang. The National Stadium was demolished and the new Singapore Sports Hub replaced the old stadium.
Inside the mall, there's a lot of restaurants, food court, a hypermart, shops, etc.
But the one that caught most people's eyes must be the Rock Climbing Wall.
The kids were fantastic, they show no fear and able to climb with ease. You can check the rates from their website.
