Recently, I went for a craft lesson on decoupage, it was fun and interesting. Did not know it was quite easy but need patience and creative mind. Firstly, we need to smooth the box with sandpaper. Then we need to paint the box with acrylic paint and let it dry, meanwhile we started to tear some patterns out from the napkins. Then we need apply some decoupage glue and paste the napkins patterns on the box. After drying, we applied varnish twice on the box and the craft is finished. /> Group photo of the rest of the students's works. Hope to attend more such crafts.

This year the Bazaar at Geylang Serai was really very interesting. A lot of new street food looked so beautiful, delicious and yummy. It sure attracted a lot of crowds not only from the muslim community but also from other races too as well as tourists. I really recommended a must visit. It was not very cramped as the bazaar was well spaced on each side of the roads so the crowd was well spread out. The bazaar was around the Geylang Serai Market, Joo Chiat Compled and along Haig Road and will be from May 25th to June 24th 2017. Of course best time to visit was at night, where the streets were lighted up and good for photography.
This stall was really having the longest queue when I was there.
Beside food stalls, there's other stalls selling clothes, curtains, carpets, etc
There's even car show room at the bazaar.

Chinese new year lasted for 15 days, throughout the 15 days, it is very common to see Lion Dance Performance near us. Saw one Lion Dance Performance in the wet market while I was doing my marketing. Lion Dance Performance at some of the stalls to usher good luck for the stallholders in the new year. Stallholders need to pay a token fee to the lion dancers for the performance infront of their stall.

Today is the 1st day of the Chinese Lunar Year, this year is the year of the Rooster. Here wishing all Chinese and those who celebrate the occasion, a very Happy Chinese New Year. Not forgetting to collect the ang pows (or red packets) from the different banks to put money inside as gifts to distribute to family, relatives and children of friends. This year I had the bags from a local bank to keep the angpows. The bag is so useful, it had different compartments, so I can keep different ang pows that contained different amount of money inside. The closer the relation of the giver and receiver will be bigger amount of money of gifts.

Last Saturday, I went to join in the fun to watch the Chinese New Year Street Light Up at Chinatown to user in the year of the Rooster. Time passes fast, Chinese New Year will be on 28th January 2017 and last for 15 days. There will be lots of programmes to watch in Chinatown during this period. For more information on the programmes, please view from the official website. This year the Chinese New Year decoration of a big rooster looked so pretty especially at night. There were so many people in Chinatown that night, I could hardly go near the stage to watch the performances. Best was the lighting of the firecrackers followed by fireworks. Watch the video below for the firecrackers and fireworks towards the end of the video. Even South Bridge Road was beautifully decorated. Video of Chinatown Street Light Up 2017 Ceremony and firecrackers and fireworks.
