Venus above the moon - 24th March 2023

The moon is beautiful tonight. Spotted Venus just above the moon crescent.

Managed to video the venus and manify with my digital camera at 100 times. But is a bit shaky cause of the zooming.

Blue Moon in Singapore.

Tonight is the blue moon. I used my digital camera (Canon powershot SX620HS) to zoom on the moon, no editing or filter used. I thought I saw a blue ring around the moon in the photos. Wow, amazing but I could not see Mars.

Supermoon 7th May 2020 (Singapore)

Supermoon on 7th May 2020 Singapore - I used my Canon digital camera and zoom 25 times, it was super big and almost could see the surface of the moon. This is the last supermoon for 2020. Something to talk about beside the circuit breaker in Singapore. Hopefully we could see the light at the end of the tunnel soon.

Supermoon - March 2020

Few days ago, the moon was super big. It was the supermoon. I quickly use my Canon Digital Camera and zoom (25X) at the moon. Wow I could see the surface of the moon. Fantastic

Super Blue Blood Moon 31st January 2018 Singapore

Just saw the partial eclipse of the moon. Fantastic, could see the moon becoming reddish.

A lunar eclipse, a blue moon and a supermoon will occur simultaneously, in a coincidence that last happened almost 152 years ago in 1866.

A partial eclipse will start at 7.48pm, while a full eclipse is expected at 8.51pm and last until 10.08pm. The partial eclipse will end at 11.11pm. Read more from source

Super moon on 15th November 2016

Did not get to see the supermoon on 14th November 2016 (Singapore time) cause was so cloudy but tonight we get to see the huge moon too. I did not have a powerful camera, the naked eyes can see the huge moon with some orangy colour but my camera did not capture any of the colours of the moon lol.

Mid Autumn Festival 2015 - Hazy Moon

Today is the 15th day of the 8th lunar month, where most Chinese celebrate the Mid Autumn Festival. This year the moon looked so red and hazy cause of the haze blown over from Indonesia Forest Fire. The haze is really bad , choking us, all my siblings are coughing and visited the doctors.

I looked out of the window and saw the moon so red and hazy, decided to zoom on the moon. My camera is Panasonic Lumix and could zoom 20X, it looked as if the craters on the moon could be seen or is it the haze. I am not sure but definitely is not the cloud cause I did not see any clouds passing by the moon when I took the photo.

Moon, Venus and Jupiter?

Was looking at the sky, was wondering why the stars were so bright but not twinkling. Realised one of the star could be Venus. Did some googling and realised tonight is the chance to see Venus and Jupiter in their brightest. I am convinced the brightest star is Venus but not sure about Jupiter or is it a star.

Managed to hold my camera steadily and zoom 20 times to view Venus, wow I managed to capture it on camera.

Blood Moon Eclipse viewed in Singapore on 4th April 2015

Managed to capture the Blood Moon Eclipse tonight, wow was awesome. Took the photo around 8.50 pm, did not manage to take earlier cause it was raining but soon the rain stop and the clouds clear and saw this beautiful sight.

A video on the eclipse of the moon, sorry if the moon seems to be moving but did not have tripod stand with me when I took this video, a little eerie cause of the dark clouds threatening to cover the whole moon.

Althought is not Friday over here, I would like to post this in Skywatch Friday.

Full Moon

Tonight the moon is very huge and bright even though there's a heavy rainfall earlier in the evening. Read that the moon will turn pink on April 15th, 2014 around 3 am Eastern Standard Time (think will be 3 pm Singapore time - guess over here we wont be able to view the pink moon).

Skywatch Friday - Crescent Moon

A very simple photo of the sky for Skywatch Friday. The moon is so high up in the sky, I could not take with the surrounding scenery. There is just the wee bit of light on the crescent moon.

Skywatch-Moon

This photo of the moon was taken some months back.

Dont mistaken about the below photo, is not the moon versus the sun. :) The orangy glow was from the street light. It was really very dark over there cause it was close to midnight and there weren't many people and vehicles around.

Dancing Moon

It was supposed to be a simple photograph of the moon in the night. But the moon looked like it was dancing in the dark....lol

No idea why the moon appeared in this way, the only reason could be me not holding the camera properly....lol

UFO?

It's really the moon only. :)

Skywatch-The moon during mid autumn festival

As a lunar month is about 29.531 days long, the full moon falls on either the 14th or 15th of the lunar month in those calendars that start the month on the new moon. In any event, the period between full moons can be either 29 or 30 days.
So every mid autumn festival (which falls on the 15th day of the chinese eight lunar month), the moon is always full.
This photo was taken two days before the mid autumn festival so the moon was almost full.

Two Moons

There are two moons in the sky. OMG, I must be seeing double. This happen when I was in the kitchen bending over to clear my rubbish bin and I happen to look up and saw two moons. I thought I need to see an eye specialist but when I stand near my window, I only see one moon. So I bend down again and there are the two moons again....lol

It is actually a reflection of the moon on my window. As it was very dark, the frame of my window could not be seen. The one on the right is a reflection of the moon while on the left is the real moon. :)
