Changi Beach
Last weekend, spend a lazy day at Changi Point Beach.
There's a ferry terminal at Changi Point, where the boats will travel to Pulau Ubin (Singapore-dont need to have a passport to travel there) and to Pengerang, southern tip of Johor (Malaysia - need passport to travel there).
Wonder what these kids looking at, maybe some sea creatures.
Younger kids might like the playground at the beach.
Older folks prefer fishing.
I prefer to just laze around looking what's going around me, love the sea view, listening to the sounds of the waves and the occasional boats passing by.
Changi Beach is near Changi International Airport, that's explained the several planes flying nearby. I zoomed on the planes, could easily identify the name of the airlines.

Skywatch Friday - Kite Flying with plane in the background
We have so much fun flying kites during our getaway during christmas at the resort. The weather was fine and very windy. A perfect day for kite flying. I did most of the videographing and photography while sons, nieces, nephews and siblings flew those kites. Some kites did not make it up the sky.
Oh I love the kite that looked like a lizard. It flew so high up.
We attract quite a lot of attention with our kites, even tourists wanted to take photos of the kites...lol
Can you spot the lizard looking kite? It is high up in the sky in the below video.

As the beach is near the airport, we get to see the planes landing.

My World Tuesday - Taking a stroll along the Beach
This week, lets go to the beach for a stroll. I guess you are all tired of the malls...lol. Time to get some nice fresh air instead of being inside an aircondtioned mall.
Ships have to pass our shore and take refuge here to refuel and re stock food. If you are living on the western of the earth, the products (i.e. television, microwave, computer, etc) you bought from Japan, South Korea or China, they have to be ship to the west via our sea. So our port is very busy (one of the busiest port in the world) and it helps us with our economy too.

Skywatch Friday - Kelong
Today my skywatch photos are about kelongs. Kelong actually is a Malay word to describe a structure with wood in waters. These kelongs are used for fishing and also serve as dwellings for the fishermen and their families. You can read more about them from Wikipedia.
The above is not really a real kelong. It is just part of the boardwalk found in Changi for leisure. It is not used for fishing but just as a decoration piece. Today there are only a handful of real fishing kelongs left in Singapore. You can read my previous posting on the boardwalk in here.
These structures are found in Sentosa. They are built to resemble Kelongs. At night there were be performance in here. There will be laser lights and fire coming out of these "kelongs". I did not watch the performance now that there are limited tickets (they used to have a venue near the Sentosa Merlion Park). The old venue was demolised to make way for the Integrated Resort and I think the above kelong will be temporary. You can see how the kelong looked at night from photos found in the internet.
Closer look at the "kelongs".

Pink Saturday-Trip to Sentosa (Part4)
My Pink contribution for today is still at Sentosa.
These slippers are comfortable for the beach. I love the pink slippers. The rectangle bags on the right are mats.

Trip to Sentosa Part 2 - Palawan Beach
There are few beaches on Sentosa but only a few are clean enough to have a picnic or to swim. This is a map to show you Palawan Beach (where I went) and Siloso Beach (another favourite beach).
The black circle on the bottom of the map is the monorail station that i mentioned yesterday. You can see it is quite near the beach and you can actually walk from the station to the beaches. Wear comfortable shoes or slippers.
On the extreme right of the map is Sentosa Cove, a private housing estate where there are condominiums and bungalows which comes with their own private berths for their boats. Sorry I dont have photos of the bungalows because i cant afford to buy one there and have no rich friends that stay there...lol.
This is the play pool for little kids who are too young to swim in the open sea. It looked so fun and safe for the kids.
Away from the beach in the open sea, you can see the rows of cargo ships. They looked very near but are actually very far away. It used to have more ships but the recession had cut down many ships that pass through us. Cargo ships stop over here to refuel and replenish their food or repair their ships. They travelled from east to west and vice versa to deliver goods to the world.
You can see my other post which tells you more about the shipping route in here.
A favourite camping site at Palawan Beach.

My World Tuesday-Sentosa (Bridge at Palawan Beach)
Sentosa has changed a lot and it caters so much to the tourists. One of the main draw is the hanging bridge at palawan beach in Sentosa.
This is the entrace to the hanging bridge and the bridge can really swing very badly and if you have sea sick dont attempt to try this...lol.
I tried to video as I walked along the bridge but the people behind me kept shaking the bridge so I have to hold on to the rope to keep my balance. After crossing the bridge, I could still have the feeling in my head that I am still swinging left and right...lol.
At high tide, the water reached over the bridge and you can actually step on the bridge with seawater around your feet. It is quite fun. Please return to see more photos of Sentosa. You can view the bridge at low tide in another blog here.

Changi Boardwalk Part 4
Continued from Part 3 of Changi Boardwalk.
Along the walk, we could see private clubs and they have their own private swimming pools but members still prefer to head to the beach and swim in the open sea.
I spotted these two dogs (I think they are golden retreiver), they are so obedient (note they are not leased), they dont run wild nor disturbed anyone on the beach/boardwalk and they just sat beside their owner. They are so beautiful.
These are sailing boats waiting for someone to take them to the sea.

Who lived in this little shell?
Continued from yesterday post, who lived in the shell?
No matter how we tried to coax the mysterious creature out, it does not show itself. So my brother told us to place the shell back in the sea water on the rock and it would appear by itself.
True enough the little guy decided to come out, it was a hermit crab.....:) Watch the short video how it crawl away from the rock.
My niece and nephews were so excited by our find and of course I am also very excited...hehehe...did you see the kid in me?

For those who guess it is a snail, you could be tricked by the hermit crab cause the hermit crab always borrowed someone's shell when it outgrown its old "borrowed" shell. That shell on its back must be a borrowed shell from a snail....lol.
We decided to let it leave it alone and let the hermit crab returned to the sea.

Sea creatures at the beach
My post for my world tuesday is about our beaches. Although Singapore is a shopping and food paradise, we too have beautiful nature around our little island too. You can view these beautiful natures in sea creatures blog, butterflies in Singapore, flowers in Singapore, and many more beautiful blogs with beautiful places of Singapore.
These rocks can be slippery so we need to be careful when we step on top of them. There are many little sea creatures hidden in these rocks.
On closer look, we found many snails in them.
There is this huge sea shell that I picked and gave to my little niece for her sea shell collection but my nephew pointed that someone lives in the shell....lol
Just to keep you all in suspense, you need to return to find out who lived in there...lol
