My World Tuesday - Singapore River Taxi

This is the second time I am taking the Singapore River Taxi. The first time I took was only a short boat ride via Route 1 (see my earlier post).

This time, I took the Singapore River Taxi from Bayfront at Marina Bay Sands to Kim Seng. I need to change boats cause there's no direct service from Bayfront to Kim Seng. So I need to take the Route 2 and change at Clifford Pier and continue with Route 1.

My ticket cost me $7 for two routes ($4 for route 2 and $3 for route 1).

Payment for the River Taxi is exclusively by EZ Link Card (the smart card that we used for paying for fares on MRT trains and buses.) The EZ link card card can be purchased from MRT Stations and transit link office in most bus interchanges.

If pay in cash, the fare will be more than double the fare if using EZ link card if I am not wrong.

Can only use one EZ link Card per person per ticket and cannot be shared, so everyone need individual EZ link card to purchase individual ticket, and there's no top up facilities at these Singapore River Taxi's Kiosk, so best top up your EZ link card at MRT Stations or Bus Interchanges first before proceeding to purchase the Singapore River Taxi's tickets.

From the photo above, we took the river taxi from Bayfront Station (Route 2 in red) and travelled to Clifford Pier Station(about less than 10 mins ride) - $4 and changed boat at this station and proceed from Clifford Pier Station to Kim Seng Station (Route 1 in purple) - $3(about 20 to 30 mins), so total fare is $7 per person and there's 4 of us so total fare is $28 if we would to take the normal road taxi will definitely cost less than $20 but we wanted to have the boat experience and love the sea breeze while in the boat and the scenery along the river is superb.

If you do not want to take both Route 2 and Route 1, can take the Route 1, the longer route (see circled in above photo)and the fare is only $3.

The below photo is Clifford Pier (built in 1933, Clifford Pier used to be a landing point for immigrants and other sea passengers.) Can read more about Clifford Pier from Wikipedia.

As the river taxi cruised, can view the Singapore Tourism Mascot, The Merlion.

Nice scenery and cool breeze, as we cruised along the Singapore River, really fun, a must try for tourist and Singaporean. Really, most Singaporeans did not know about this service (from the feedback I got from my relatives and friends hahaha), now after seeing my photos, my friends are all going to try the Singapore River Taxi based on my recommendations.

This Colourful bridge is known as The Alkaff Bridge, was painted in January 2004 in vibrant colours by Filipino artist Pacita Abad (1946–2004) and a team of rope specialists. The artist and her crew of helpers used 55 different colours and more than 900 litres of industrial-strength paint to transform the bridge into Singapore's first "Bridge of Art".

Finally we arrived our destination at Kim Seng, there's one last station after Kim Seng called Jiak Kim where Great World City Shopping Mall is, I think we alight one station too early hahaha.

A short video of the river taxi.

My World Tuesday - The Helix Bridge

Last week, I introduced the Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort. You can see the hotel in the background. From where I am standing, it is the entrance of The Helix Bridge which you can see on the left of the photo. The bridge connected directly to the resort.

This is the world first double helix curved bridge. It is about 280 metre long and the whole bridge looked like a DNA double helix. The steel tubes form the minor and major helix that spiral in opposite directions. At night the bridge will be illuminated and will be very beautiful. I will come another day during the night and take more photos.

The bridge is not fully covered. So you need an umbrella if it rains. But the walk across the bridge takes only about 10 minutes. But most take longer as they try to admire the bridge and the surrounding scenery.

At the side of the bridge are several such balcony.

Lots of steel were used to make this bridge.

What's behind the poster?

Continued from yesterday's post about what's behind the poster. The below photo is part of the poster where I peek through the window. This is what's behind the poster. The final part of the bridge where I am standing.

The bridge where I am standing is very impressive and very very expensive. I will post about the bridge in future post cause I wanted to tell you where the bridge leads to.

The above photo with the window is the same window that's in the poster in the below photo.

The bridge leads to The Shoppes at Marina Bay. The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, boasting over 800,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space, is Singapore's first large-scale luxury shopping destination. It is part of the MarinaBaySands which comprises of the shopping centre, casino and hotel.

You can find more information from their official website. You can see from their website how big the shoppe is. I will post about the Shoppe in tomorrow's post with photos.

The Shoppes is not fully completed but they will be completed very soon. But the internal of the Shoppes is already open for business.
More photos of The Shoppes coming in tomorrow's post.

What are they peeking at?

What are these people peeking? Actually these people are not real people. From far, I thought I saw people peeking into the windows but when approaching the huge poster, these people are part of the poster's drawings.
Something big and expensive is behind the poster. That's why I was so tired (mentioned in yesterday's post), after walking around the area.

You got to return to find out more about it as I try to sort out the photos in order.

My Walking Trip Part 11 - Skywatch Friday-Alexandra Arch

Today, my walking trip has come to an end with skywatch. :) Hope those that been cyberwalking on this trip with me, have a good time looking at the photos.

This is another bridge that is very lovely, although Henderson Waves looked so much prettier. This bridge is known as Alexandra Arch and it looked like part of a leaf. The bridge also form part of the connector that forms the southern ridge.

After Alexandra Arch, there is the famous Hort Park, but my two friends are too tired to continue the walk, so we did not proceed to Hort Park.
Hort Park is a gardening hub for those who love gardening.

Skywatch Friday-Telok Blangah - Part 5 - Henderson Waves

My skywatch today is still in the vicinity of Telok Blangah. Now you should know why I will like this place.

The latest trend of Singaporean today is to visit this very new bridge and explore the area around it. It is a long walk and climb.

The new bridge is known as Henderson Waves. It is designed with the shape of waves.

Looked at the long climb up. I did not climb on the day when I photograph this but had already make plan with my two buddies (same age as me) to climb and explore this bridge and another bridge (known as Alexandra Arch), it will be a long walk from Henderson waves to Alexandra Arch. More details of the two bridges in here. Right now, my buddies and I are too busy to go for the climb.

The whole of Singapore has a very good drainage system, so heavy flooding in Singapore is very rare but we do get flash flood every now and then whenever there is a heavy rain. Even rain water that falls in the rain are collected as drinking water. Water is so precious in Singapore.

The Henderson Waves is the highest pedestrian bridge in Singapore and it is 36 metres high and 274 metres long and 8 metres wide and the architectural design of it looked like waves.

I really have to climb up it to take photos to show you the beautiful brdige one day.
A short video of the bridge from below.
I will tell you more about this bridge and the long walk when I visited it with my two buddies.

My World Tuesday-Sentosa (Bridge at Palawan Beach)

Sentosa has changed a lot and it caters so much to the tourists. One of the main draw is the hanging bridge at palawan beach in Sentosa.

This is the entrace to the hanging bridge and the bridge can really swing very badly and if you have sea sick dont attempt to try this...lol.

I tried to video as I walked along the bridge but the people behind me kept shaking the bridge so I have to hold on to the rope to keep my balance. After crossing the bridge, I could still have the feeling in my head that I am still swinging left and right...lol.

At high tide, the water reached over the bridge and you can actually step on the bridge with seawater around your feet. It is quite fun. Please return to see more photos of Sentosa. You can view the bridge at low tide in another blog here.

The Benjamin Sheares Bridge

The Benjamin Sheares Bridge is the longest bridge in Singapore. It is named after Dr Benjamin Henry Sheares, the 2nd president of the Republic.

Another view of the bridge.
