Over the weekend, The Republic of Singapore Air Force celebrated its 50th anniversary by holding a massive aerial display at Marina Barrage. A very huge crowd was expected and so best to take the bus to Marina Barrage. As anticipated, the car park were full and traffic jam along the way to Marina Barrage as many wanted to view the aerial display.
We took the bus no. 400 from Shenton Way Bus Terminal. Was my first time at this bus terminal.
There were so many people at the Marina Barrage and the weather was extremely hot. I would like to come again to Marina Barrage but will come at night where the weather is cooler.
Think the aerial display was more than 30 minutes, I did not video all the display, view the video at the bottom of this post. Hubby and me enjoyed the display very much, very impressive.
A heart shaped performed by the fighter planes.
Video of the aerial display, I grew too tired to video all hahaha.
Last weekend, there's a rehearsal for the coming National Day 2018 (9th August 2018), I did not get tickets to watch the rehearsal but got lucky to be able to watch so many planes fly past my house's window. Not fast enough to catch all the planes in my camera.
National Day Celebration is not completed without the display of the planes.
I have no idea what you call them but searching the official website gave me this answer...lol. The above display is that of a G550-AEW escorted by four F5 fighter planes. The G550-AEW is able to detect, identify and track aerial targets from a longer range. Now I sounded so smart...hahaha.
There's another short video on a chinook carrying the huge Singapore Flag but I will released the video on our National Day i.e. 9th August 2010.
You can read more about the display of planes from the official website of NDP 2010.
I took these photos last month when I took a plane to Vietnam. The plane just left Singapore and I spotted something from the window. It's a cloud formation that looked like an elephant or dinosaur. Close up view of the cloud formation. I wonder if you see what I see.

We have so much fun flying kites during our getaway during christmas at the resort. The weather was fine and very windy. A perfect day for kite flying. I did most of the videographing and photography while sons, nieces, nephews and siblings flew those kites. Some kites did not make it up the sky. Oh I love the kite that looked like a lizard. It flew so high up. We attract quite a lot of attention with our kites, even tourists wanted to take photos of the kites...lol
As the beach is near the airport, we get to see the planes landing.
A short videos showing the kites flying but not as high as the plane.
Can you spot the lizard looking kite? It is high up in the sky in the below video.

These photos were taken when I travelled to Melbourne. It was a night flight but because of the time difference, it was morning in Australia. When we were about halfway in our journey we could see that half the plane was in darkness while the other half was almost bright. Cool eh! We flew over the equator. :) The sky nearer to our windows are still in darkness while the other half we could see the sun ray. It was a wonderful experience and I think most passengers did not experienced it cause they were all snoozing away.
It was so wonderful to see the clouds below us.
Almost reaching Melbourne, we could see the land below.

Our stay at the bungalow was fun and enjoyable. The only complaint was that the resort was so near to our busy changi airport that every now and then we could see aeroplanes about to land and depart. The noises from the planes could be irritating too but sometimes we were enjoying ourselves so much that we took no notice of the planes and the noises....lol. The kids were so fascinated by the huge commercial planes that they started to identify the different airlines. It is not everyday that they get to see the planes so up close and so many of them too.
A very short video of a plane coming to land at the airport runway. The ships could be seen in the sea too. So a little island called Singapore is so busy with all these planes and ships to make it a wealthy island. So we shouldn't complain at all if we want good economy for our country. :)

Took this photo of the plane at changi industrial estate, near changi airport. Easily to spot planes going up and down in this area. That was why there ain't no high buildings in these areas. For other sky watchers, you can go to Skywatch blog.
Hopefully this would be my last on fighter planes...hehehe...dont want to bore my fellow bloggers. :)
I took this on National Day (09.08.2008), now I know why the last plane is trying to catch up with the rest of the planes. The last plane had just finished performing an acrobatic show at Marina and now fly to join the rest in the final show at Marina. Compared the two photos and see the difference. The last plane was coming in different directions on different days.
The below photo was taken on 02.08.2008 during the National Day preview. You need to watch this exciting video especially the ending part taken on 09.08.2008. It looked scary when the plane just turned and dived to join them. It looked a bit different from the preview video that I took earlier.

Yesterday was our National Day, Singapore 43rd Birthday. I took some photos off the TV to show my friends our culture and how we celebrate National Day. I could not get the tickets to the live parade nor do I want to stand by the roadside to watch cause it would be very crowded. So I have to be contended with the television. The above photo shows the chinook carrying the National flag as the nation sings the National Anthem. From my window, I could view the chinook carrying the flag far off from where I stay. This is the best I could zoom on the chinnok.
Pictures taken off television.
