My World Tuesday - Hort Park 1

Today, I will begin my series of posting of plants and flowers in Hort Park.

Some of the landscapes I saw inside Hort Park.

Oh I love these dragons.

Award winning designs, I love how they arranged the flowers at the side to make a pattern just like flower arrangements.

Not sure if this is a swimming pool or just for display, I could not see any sign beside it or I might have missed seeing any description of it.

Recycled Shopping Bags

After visiting the Clean and Green Campaign, we were given goodie bags to take home with us. The bags are made from recycled materials. Can you recognized them? Some are banners of advertisements for products. I chose a nice blue bag, I think it is made from a used Pepsi banner.

Hort Park - Clean and Clean Campaign Exhibition

At the clean and green campaign at Hort Park, there's an exhibition of the then and now of Singapore.

It brought back memories of the time when I was younger, living in a not so clean environment. But now everything is so organised and clean.

An example of the street hawker back then in the 60s, the utensils they used are so old and discoloured but now hawkers will be fined or suspended if their stalls are unclean.

Now the sweeper's job are easier and high tech, they are help with machines and make it more attractive so that people will want to work as sweeper.

Skywatch Friday - Birds

A simple photo of skywatch today, showing some birds circling above me. Not sure what type of birds are they, they are actually very far from me but I zoomed on them while photographing them.

Hort Park - Part 4 - Green and Clean Campaign Part 4

A special corner for kids who are too young to join the other games at the campaign.
Kids love drawings and colourings.

My little niece decided to have a tattoo and no, it is not a permanent one, just a stick on and removable tattoo for kids.

My World Tuesday - Hort Park - Clean and Green Campaign (Part 2)

Everyone so interested and curious with this vending machine at the exhibition of Clean and Green Campaign 2010 held at Hort Park. No, it is not a drinks or food vending machine, it is a reverse vending machine for recycled materials. We just feed the machine with recycled materials and the machine will automatically separate it to plastic, can or glass.
And no, I did not try out the machine, there's a long queue of people queuing to try the machine and I dont like long queue.
A short video showing the company's representative explaining how the machine works.
Another short video of curious onlookers . I am curious about the machine too cause this is the first time we see this machine in Singapore although other countries are already using it.

Hort Park - Pledge to Go Green

I am back to blogging but need time to retun back to my normal blogging and blog visiting...lol. Will be very busy these two months with so many programmes and celebrations going on.

Visited the Hort Park during the weekend for the Clean and Green Singapore 2010. It is so much fun and I took the green pledge today towards a cleaner and greener Singapore.

We had our little thumbs painted with either green or yellow to take the pledge and the patterns of our thumbprints looked like a tree.

I took a short video of this lady who also took the pledge.
It is so educating and fun and I have lots of photos coming up and my favourite are the flowers that I saw in Hort Park and having fun with my little niece. I am so glad she share my interests in taking photos of flowers.

My World Tuesday - Studying in the Airport

Continued from yesterday's post.

Besides famous for its food at Changi Airport, it is also well liked by students and retirees and those who love watching planes.

The above photo is the viewing gallery of Terminal 3 of Changi Aiport. You can view the plane landing and taking off here but Terminal 2 has better view of the planes.

Last weekend, I saw a group of students (circled) studying at a corner of the viewing gallery. This is the exam period and students love coming here cause it is so spacious and quiet and nice air conditioning too. I wondered how they can studied in this manner...lol. I rather locked myself in my own bedroom and studied by myself. I guess everyone has different way of studying.

My son studied with earphones in his ears, laptop in front of him and the books/notes on the desk....lol. He said this is multi-tasking.
Some retirees has no where to go, so they come here to watch the planes. Even hubby and me came to watch the planes after our lunch at the airport. :)
To view the beautiful airport, you can see my previous posting in here.

Changi Airport Terminal 3

Why do Singaporeans love going to the airport?

Changi Airport won so many awards for being the most beautiful and best airport in the world. We have three terminals, Terminal 1, Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 and one budget airport all in Changi.

I love going to Terminal 3 being the latest and bigger terminal. The terminal is spacious and hubby and me went there last weekend just to have our lunch...lol.
Visit tomorrow to see how Singaporeans spend their day in Changi Airport. :)

Recycle Bins

Saw these recycle bins at Terminal 3 Changi Airport. The message is so clear, the bottle is for plastic, the can is for can/metal and the paper is for papers.

Quiet Street

Hidden in a corner of Singapore is one these quiet streets in Changi.

It was so dark that I could only see the street lights.

A very short video of the quiet street, I was so afraid that I might see something extraordinary...lol

My World Tuesday - Recreation

Singapore is known as a food and shopping paradise but besides shopping and eating, we do know how to relax...lol.

What kind of recreation do you like?

The kids and those who love swimming have these beautiful pools to be pampered in.

The bigger kids and adults simply love bowling. It is one of my favourite too. Hubby is good at it.

But most of all, I love to just relax in this swing in the resort.

During holidays, the whole family would rent these bungalows (behind the swing) to just relax and be away from the city.

You can view my previous post on how the bungalow looked like inside in here.

What's happening in Chinatown?

What's all the commotion? The road in front of People's Park Complex in Chinatown, Singapore was closed and everyone waiting for some kind of parade or performance but nothing happen.

Glad hubby and me, smart enough to just go for our dinner and not wait for it to happen. True enough, nothing happen...lol. Road closed for about 1 hour (i think) then reopen...hahaha. So people who crossed to the middle of the road had problem crossing back when the road reopen.

I think the performance/lantern carrying was cancelled due to the rain??? No idea really.
