Cat

Saw this cat not sure if it was a stray or someone's pet.

It had a beautiful black and white coat, so I could not resist taking a photo of it.

Then suddenly the cat was very still and aiming at something

It was trying to attack a bird nearby but I could not manage to take a photo of the bird cause the bird manage to fly away before it became the cat's lunch..lol

I guess the cat must be very disappointed at losing its meal so it turned to us but too bad we aint suitable to be its lunch...lol

Haha I've seen cats in this pose very often and have yet to see one land a catch. So now I stop getting excited at the prospect of a successful attempt by cats stalking birds. Nice shots of the cat. It sure looks too nice to be a stray.

Its left ear is clipped, so it was definitely not anybody's pet when it was sterilized. Or at least I don't know anyone who would deliberately ask for his/her pet cat's ear to be clipped during sterilization.

Of course, some sterilized strays might be subsequently adopted as pets.

Pet cats (esp. those w/o clipped ears) that are allowed to roam also tend to have a collar, so that they won't be mistaken as strays, & get taken away to be "re-sterilized" (or even culled !)

Wow Pat, thanks for the enlightment but I cant see any difference in its ears from the photos lol. Next time, if I come across any of these cats, will look out for these signs.

Alice: I cant see any difference in its ears from the photos lol.

The tip of the left ear appears to be have been previously "cut off" (under sedation during the sterilization process). Eg. Zoom in to your photo.

Or is that a photo trick ? :)
