Food Fair-Part 1 - Bak Kwa Or BBQ meat

I had visited the food fair after visiting the travel fair earlier this month.

The fair is just as crowded.

This is the bak kwa or BBQ meat store where they sold bak kwa and sausages.

Bakkwa, or rougan is a Chinese salty-sweet dried meat product similar to jerky, made in the form of flat thin sheets. It is normally made from pork. For more information, you can view here.

When I first came to live in Malaysia, I bought some sheets of Bakkwa, it looked so yummy.
But I was disapointed, I don't like it at all!
I understand though that Chinese like them very much.

Bob, yes the girl on the poster eating bakkwa is a local actress/host. She is in a commercial trying to sell bakkwa.

Kitem, Bakkwa are so delicious and yummy. They dont come cheap and cost about $40 and above for 1 kg. During Chinese New Year, the price would be scary, it can go up to above $50 per 1 kg and the queue would be very long.

Bet you won't believe me if I tell you that I love to travel with bak kwa, as my snack or breakfast. It's delicious and goes well on its own or with bread. Best of all, it's light to carry around. I even brought it when we went mountain climbing and camping!! I am a bak kwa lover!!! Yum, yum!
