Chinatown shophouses (2)

More photos of shophouses in Chinatown. These shophouses had a long history and had been here since the British Rules. Many had been restored and renovated. Some are used as shops and restaurants while some are used as offices. The one above with the red windows is a chinese restaurant called Yum Cha, selling "dim sum".

Great angle, especially on the first shot.

We're practically neighbours for the moment - until we board our flight home at midnight tonight.

So interesting to see these. I'd not heard of shophouses before. So glad to know they are now being restored.

Zoe, this photo was taken during Chinese New Year, that explains for the lanterns. As times goes by many of these shophouses had gone through many re-decorations and renovations. I am sorry for being lazy with my informations, I should type more about it. There are more shophouses with non-chinese features but over times, they had changed much. I hope to have more photos of chinatown shophouses to share with all.

I like the red rows of windows! Reminds me of the movie "Raising the Red Lanterns"! And I could see red lanterns hanging outside those windows.
