Singapore Mandai Zoo - Flowers

I have a hard time posting these photos, need to do homework to find out the names of the flowers...lol. Mable's blog help me a lot in identifying some of the flowers.

Canna flower

Heliconia

Heliconia (Bird of Paradise)

Not sure what flower is the above. It looked so cute and pretty. Will try to find out the name of the flower.

Powder puff flowers
Anthurium Flower

Thunbergia ( I think this is the name of the flower)

Clerodendrum paniculatum (pagoda flower) - hahaha got the name of the flower from Mable's Blog.

Alpinia purpurata

Hope I did not get the names of the flowers wrong.

Mable, if you are reading this post, thank you for your blog, I now treated your blog as my flower guide book. :)

Singapore Mandai Zoo - Rafflesia

Going through my files in my computer, I realised I still have some photos from my visit to Singapore Zoo that I have not posted in my blog.

We were visiting the "Fragile Forest" in Singapore Mandai Zoo and we came across this huge flower called the Rafflesia. I am not sure if it is real or fake. But am very sure it is not a sculpture. We dare not touch the flower cause it could be the real flower. Even my son could not tell the difference...lol. I wonder anyone could give me the answer if the Rafflesia in the Zoo is real or fake. Would be nice if it is real. You can view my previous post on the fragile forest.

You can read more about Rafflesia from Wikipedia

Pink Saturday - Sentosa Flower Show - Flowers

This will be my final posting for Sentosa Flower Show. Ending the series with these beautiful and different colour hibiscus.

Lots of Hibiscus in here. Love these pink hibiscus, they looked like they are dancing and their petals looked like skirts swirling around.

Sentosa Flower Show Part 9 - Tulips

Land of the giant tulips. Actually these are just props but there are really some tulips growing there. Rather, these tulips are specially flown in from other countries and placed there for the Sentosa Flower Show. We cant grow tulips in Singapore because of the hot weather but soon we can see tulips growing in Singapore.

Garden by the Bay in Marina will be open end of this year and certain parts of the garden will see tulips growing there. There will be special domes with temperature suitable to grow flowers that normally cannot grow in Singapore. I will tell you more when I visit the garden when it open by end of the year. There will be four parts of the garden, I think they will open certain parts phase by phase.

I was late visiting the flower show where the tulips bloom too much.

Pink Saturday - Sentosa Flower Show Part 4 - Rabbits

For Pink Saturday, I like to share these cute rabbits decorations for the Year of the Rabbit on Sentosa.

The rabbits are found around the words "SENTOSA" as shown in the above photo.

This rabbit mascot is super cute.

Hahaha taking a candid shot of the bunny's tail.

Suddenly Sentosa was invaded by lots of bunnies during the Year of the Rabbit.

I took this photo near KFC where we rested and have a cold drink and snack before we proceed with our walk.

Skywatch Friday - Sentosa Flower Show Part 3 - Merlion

From mainland Singapore, we could see the Merlion standing tall in Sentosa. The merlion is the symbol for Singapore Tourism Board. It is half lion and half mermaid. That's how it got its name. You can view more about the Merlion from my earlier posts.

Closer view of the merlion. Take note of its mouth, there's people there. We can go into the merlion and use the lift to go up to the viewing deck i.e. its mouth. I had been in before but did not take any photos back then.

Being the year of the rabbit, there are a lot of decorations in the shape of the rabbit.

This rabbit is very huge and there are a lot of different flowers used to decorate it.
