Newspaper Special Edition on Mr Lee Kuan Yew

There's special edition newspaper on the Life of Mr. Lee Kuan Yew, went to queue to buy the papers.

Seems like most of us are not in a mood to do anything today, really so sad.

Remembering Founder of Singapore

So sad, woke up to very sad news of the passing of Founder of Singapore, Mr. Lee Kuan Yew.

Being in the baby boomers generation and older than Singapore, we witness the progress and how successful Singapore is today. Thank you so much for giving us a peaceful and successful country to live in. May you rest in peace, Father of Singapore.

Hubby admire Mr. Lee Kuan Yew very much, he collects and read his books. I never like reading thick books but I somehow find myself reading his memoirs and managed to finished the whole interesting book. Too sad now.

Singapore Flower

Singapore will be turning 50 years old next year. So there's this project to get everyone to help make the singapore flowers from recycled bags for next year Chingay in celebrating Singapore turning 50.

Chingay is a National Event is also the largest street performance and float parade in Asia. From the main parade site to the heartlands, this street extravaganza epitomises the dynamism of Singapore's vibrant and multicultural society. The word Chingay is equivalent to the Mandarin zhuang yi (妆艺), which means "the art of costume and masquerade" in the Hokkien dialect.

You can read more from its official website.

To learn how to make the Singapore Flowers from recycled bags, you can view from the You Tube Video.

Yesterday, we were at my brother's house trying to make the flowers, look easy but is not easy at first try hahaha. Need lots of patience.

The flowers were all made by my eldest sister.

Rain at last

After an absense of rain for about two months, heavy downpour in most part of Singapore, really a welcome relief. The grasses are all turning yellow from lack of water and most ponds were drying up. If the rain do not comes, I guess we need to have water rationing.

Singapore New Coins

PLEASE DO NOT REPOST MY PHOTOS WITHOUT MY PERMISSION. PEOPLE HAVE BEEN STEALING MY PHOTOS AND REPOST TO THEIR BLOGS WITHOUT MY PERMISSION AND THE MOST DIGUSTING THING THEY DID WAS SCREEN SHOT MY PHOTO AND CORP OFF MY BLOG TITLE.

Singapore new coins replacing all the old coins but dont worry the old coins are still legal. The new coins are very pretty, with each coin having a face with famous landmarks/attractions in Singapore. The $1 coin has a face of the Merlion, the 50 cents coin has a face of the shipping port, the 20 cents coin has a face of the Changi Airport, the 10 cents coin has a face of our public housing and the 5 cents coin has a face of the esplanade.

Here are the three generations of the $1 coins. The first generation of the $1 coin is so unique, you could hardly find it in circulation anymore while the other lower denominations of the first generation can still be found in circulation.

Hahaha I still have only eight pieces of the first generation of the $1 coins.

You can view the official website of Monetary Authority of Singapore for more information on the new coins.

Singapore is choking on the haze

OMG, Singapore is choking on the haze due to the burning in Indonesia. Today is the worst hit with PSI of 401.

Was in Singapore General Hospital visiting patient when I saw a long queue, people were queueing to purchase N95 masks and soon it was out of stock, with promises to have more tomorrow.

Hope a heavy downpour will get rid of all the dirt and ash in the environment. Please stop burning.

Skywatch Friday - Night Kite Flying

Interesting to fly a night kite. This kite was operated by a remote control. The kite must be very expensive, wonder what happen if halfway the battery dies down and the kite would crash down on the ground.

Happy New Year 2013

Here wishing all my blogger friends a very Happy New Year. Wishing everyone Good Health, Good Luck and Good Fortune and may all your wishes come true. Heavy rain and more wet weathers ahead so stay safe and dry. For Chinese, water means money so it might be a good sign to start the year with good auspicious sign. :)

Christmas Gathering 2012

We had a family gathering at my brother's home on Christmas Day. We celebrated with some local chinese food and pizza and we also exchange presents. Was really a fun and happy day for all of us.

Pizza and side orders from Pizza Hut.

Local Chinese food

Braised fish head

Braised tofu with prawns.

Hahahaha we dont have a christmas tree so we just lay our presents on the table. We used to have christmas trees in our homes when our children were younger, was fun putting and decorating the trees but taking out all the decorations and keeping the christmas trees became a chore, hahaha. But think we might get a christmas tree again.

For after meal dessert, we had mao shan wang durian log cake. Wow the best log cake we ever had. Mao Shan Wang is like branded durian, dont come cheap and was really very delicious.
