Skywatch Friday-Housing in Tiong Bahru

My skywatch will be these housing in Tiong Bahru. Built in the 1930s, Tiong Bahru Estate is one of the oldest housing estates in Singapore. Almost everyone in Singapore knew that Tiong Bahru is famous for their buildings and of course their food (especially chwee kuay) at Tiong Bahru Hawker Centre. I will go there another time to take photo of the hawker centre.

These flats featured rounded balconies, flat rooftops and the famous spiral staircases.

These flats are protected under Tiong Bahru Heritage Buildings. They cannot be demolished without the government's permission. You can read more on these flats from
source.

These newer taller buildings are private condominiums.

It is directly opposite the MRT Station of Tiong Bahru. The place where I am standing is Tiong Bahru Shopping Mall.

This condominium is so tall that I have to squat down and bend my head real low to try to take the whole building...lol. I still did not capture the lower few floors. I think this condominium is at least more than forty stories high.

For other sky watchers, please hop over to Skywatch blog.

Marina Bay Sands Casino at Marina South

If you think the above construction looked ugly in Singapore River. I agreed too. It spoilt the view of the financial district buildings. But in a few years it would looked pretty.

Many colourful cranes - so much construction going along Singapore River.

All the digging and banging are for the future Sands Casino in Marina Bay. It would be the first casino to be allowed on Singapore, the other casino will be at Sentosa.

The Marina Bay Sands is Singapore's first casino developed by Las Vegas Sands at Marina South and expected to be completed in 2009. To see how the casino looked like when completed, click here.

The second casino being constructed is in Sentosa. See my earlier post.

Tourists and foreigners get to gamble free in the casino while Singaporean needed to pay an entrance fee of S$100 or $2000 annual fee to gamble in the casino. Families can banned their family members from gambling in the casinos.

Integrated Resort, Sentosa, Singapore

SENTOSA OLD FERRY TERMINAL...............NOW YOU SEE IT................

NOW YOU DONT....................
Sentosa old ferry terminal is gone, demolished and make way for the much talked about Resorts World at Sentosa . The integrated resort will have hotels, water park, maritime museum, etc and of course the Casino and Universal Studio. It will be completed in a few years time. The other integrated resort will be at Marina.
I am looking forward to them, now I dont have to travel to USA to visit Universal Studio, and I think Singapore will be a more exciting place to visit for tourists.
Not to worry that the sea in front of Vivo City will be polluted with rubbish. The boat man above is there to take care of the cleaniness.
