Skywatch Friday - Gardens By The Bay - Flower Dome
The Flower Dome replicates the cool-dry climate of Mediterranean regions like South Africa, California and parts of Spain and Italy. Home to a collection of plants from deserts all over the world, it showcases the adaptations of plants to arid environments. Stop and smell the flowers in the colourful changing displays of the Flower Field, which reflects different seasons, festivals and themes. You can read more about the flower dome from its official website The whole dome is air conditioned and to reduce the amount of energy required in the cooling process, the air in the Flower Dome is de-humidified by liquid desiccant (drying agent) before it is cooled. This desiccant is recycled using the waste heat from the burning of the biomass. You can view the official website to see how the cooling system works. The flowers displays will change very soon according to their facebook posting. I will post more photos of the plants and flowers in coming posts. For other sky watchers, please hop over to Skywatch Blog

My World Tuesday - Gardens By The Bay - Cloud Forest
It is nice to have an airconditioned garden right in the heart of Singapore city. There are two domes in Gardens By The Bay which are air condtioned. Cloud Forest comprised of a 35-metre tall mountain complete with the tallest indoor waterfall covered in lush vegetation, the Cloud Forest portrays plant life from about 2,000-metres above sea level at the top of the mountain to around 1,000-metres at the bottom of the ravine. Read more from the official websiteClose up view of the extended balcony from the bridge. Going to the top of the artificial mountain is easy, take the lift to the 7th floor and slowly descend down via a long walkway. The architectural designs of the dome is really amazing and do remember to pause and admire them. I do have a fear of heights but for the sake of photography I just had to look down and take some photos of the view hahaha. For photos on other parts of the world, please visit Our World Tuesday Meme. Thanks to the team of Our World for giving us the opportunity to share my world with the rest of the world.

Skywatch Friday - Gardens By The Bay
The main attraction in Gardens By The Bay must be the two domes. The two domes looked like giant eggs. I will show the inside of the domes in later posts. Saw a tree that bears fruits that looked like durians but on closer look, they are not durians. Not sure what trees are they. The scenery infront of the two domes is beautiful especially with the Singapore Flyer in the background.Love my new camera, I could zoom at the Singapore Flyer's capsules and able to see the people inside. For other sky watchers, please hop over to Skywatch Blog
