Skywatch Friday - Mid Autumn Festival 2012 Celebration at Hong Lim Park

After all the fun at Singapore River, we decided to walk to Chinatown for our supper but halfway through our walk, we saw a beautiful dragon infront of Hong Lim Park.

On entering the park, we saw a mini exhibition of lanterns and some made from recycled materials.

I noticed this dragon head was cleverly made with lots of plates, bowls, tea cups, etc., very creative.

A short video on the performance at Hong Lim Park. I could not get closer to the stage, was literally standing behind some bushes hahaha, had to raise my camera to video this performance.

Skywatch Friday - Gardens By the Bay - Light Show

I spend almost the entire afternoon at the Gardens By the Bay and after dinner at the Gardens, I decided to wait for the light show at the Gardens By the Bay. The OCBC Garden Rhapsody is a twice nightly performance, at 7:45pm and 8:45pm at Gardens by the Bay’s Supertree Grove. The show is free of charge for all to enjoy.

Two short videos on the Supertrees at different time of the evening.

Sorry for the shaky camera, did not stand in the correct place to video the light show at Gardens By the Bay, think I was too near the trees.

Thought they would have fast or lively music for the light show hahaha, the music and lights were slow in coming and I think I wanted to doze off cause I spend so many hours at the Garden hahaha. Perhaps the next time I would come just in the evening to enjoy the slow music and video the light show at another spot.

Skywatch Friday - Gardens By The Bay - Flower Dome

The Flower Dome replicates the cool-dry climate of Mediterranean regions like South Africa, California and parts of Spain and Italy. Home to a collection of plants from deserts all over the world, it showcases the adaptations of plants to arid environments. Stop and smell the flowers in the colourful changing displays of the Flower Field, which reflects different seasons, festivals and themes. You can read more about the flower dome from its official website

The whole dome is air conditioned and to reduce the amount of energy required in the cooling process, the air in the Flower Dome is de-humidified by liquid desiccant (drying agent) before it is cooled. This desiccant is recycled using the waste heat from the burning of the biomass. You can view the official website to see how the cooling system works.

The flowers displays will change very soon according to their facebook posting. I will post more photos of the plants and flowers in coming posts.

Skywatch Friday - Gardens By The Bay

The main attraction in Gardens By The Bay must be the two domes.

The two domes looked like giant eggs. I will show the inside of the domes in later posts.

Saw a tree that bears fruits that looked like durians but on closer look, they are not durians. Not sure what trees are they.

The scenery infront of the two domes is beautiful especially with the Singapore Flyer in the background.

Love my new camera, I could zoom at the Singapore Flyer's capsules and able to see the people inside.

Took this photo from the window of my apartment, using my new camera with x16 zoom, I could make the sun and building looked like they were right infront and very near to me. :) Very happy with my new camera.

Skywatch Friday - Little Guilin - Relax in the park

Nice park to spend the day especially in the morning and evening but even at noon, there are many tall trees providing shades from the hot sun.

Love the photo of the woman relaxing and reading a book in the park.

Not sure what this man is collecting from the pond but I guess must be some pond specimens for research purposes.

Some senior citizens spending the day catching fishes, wonder what type of fishes lived in the pond but I came a cross a 2 feet long aquatic snake just inches from my feet. It startled me as much as I startled it hahaha. Before I could take a photo shot of it, the snake quickly slithered back to the pond.
