Dragonfly

I managed to capture a close up shot of this red dragonfly while on a day trip to Desaru, West Malaysia last year. Am glad that the dragonfly was so still there. :)



Not sure what species is this dragonfly.

    Nice red dragon fly.

    Did your mum and all mums in Singapore give the same warning as mums in Borneo?

    Don't handle a dragon fly, otherwise you get "LUCK LAY" a kind of awful skin disease? So we were scared to catch a dragon fly. LOL

    wow! i rarely see dragonflies these days. good that you manage to take a shot of that red dragon fly.

    it means that area is still healthy.

    The dragonfly with red body & transparent reddish wings as shown in your Desaru photos is a male Trithemis aurora (Crimson Dropwing). See here for reference.

    Where red dragonflies are concerned, it seems to me that it is much easier to see Neurothemis fluctuans (Common Parasol) in S'pore.
