Still at the top of Mount Faber. Just about 10 minutes walk from the Mount Faber Cable Car Station, there was a small park that was so lovely. It was much cooler over here with huge trees which gives us shade from the hot sun.
This is the Singapore Icon - the Merlion on top of Mount Faber. There are about four Merlions as far as I know in Singapore. The others are the famous Merlion and its baby at Fullerton and the huge Merlion on Sentosa.
Plenty of flowers and greenery as we walked to this little park.
i wonder how high is mount faber. is it cold on top?
ReplyDeleteMerlions??? This is the first one I've seen! Very cool.
ReplyDeleteDong, it is only a hill despite being called "Mount". Nah, it is hot up there unless you are under those big trees. Best time to go will be morning or evening.
ReplyDeleteMerlion is an icon created by the tourist board for Singapore. It is half lion head and half fish. You can read more information here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merlion
ReplyDeletethis Singapore flower is amazing. thanks for shared
ReplyDeleteThese are all stunning.. I have enjoyed playing catch up here today..
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing this trip with us!
ReplyDeleteMerlion? Quite imaginative ... but why a lion if Singapore is known as one of asian economic tigers?
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a beautiful little park.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the nice comments
ReplyDeleteQuin,
ReplyDeleteSingapore is known as Singapura in Malay. Singa=Lion and pura=City. A Javanese Prince saw a beast which he believed is a Lion so he named our island "Singapura". You can read the history of Singapore in here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Singapore
is there a merlion at the singapore airport...? i feel like i saw one when i stopped over, but it might be a part of my hallucination from my almost 48 hours flight...
ReplyDeleteHi Alice! I’m back to blogosphere after another busy (and annoying) week… ;)
ReplyDeleteLoved to see Mount Faber again; but must confess that even up there couldn't find it cool... ;)
Great pictures!
Meanwhile Blogtrotter is still strolling in the streets of Santiago de Compostela… Enjoy and have a nice weekend!
Zak, you are right the one you saw at the airport could be a display set in the bookshop and I dont think it belong to the tourist board.
ReplyDeleteGmg, Welcome back to blogosphere. It is not cold on top of Mount Faber, but the little park is cooler than at Jewel box roof top because of the many big trees there but definitely not cold...lol
