The Tembusu tree at Singapore Botanic Gardens has been identified as a heritage tree and is featured on the Singapore $5 currency note and in postage stamps.
Closer look at a $5 bill of Singapore, where you can see the famous tree.
The uniqueness of this tree is the long branch that grows out from the trunk almost touching the ground and we can actually sit or lie on it. I have fond memories of this tree where my siblings and I would climbed on this tree during our childhood and we had so much fun.
So precious is this heritage tree that it was protected against lightning damages. If you look closely you can view the lightning conductors.
Closer look at the hole in the trunk of the tree, we can actually put our head through the hole.

This is a very interesting article Alice. You are getting better and better at blogging, well done! Thanks for the information!
Just one word of caution. This is related to the $5 note photo you put up. Do check up if by Singapore law will you need to include the word "Specimen" across any reprinted notes. I'm not sure on that, just a suggestion.
Good work anyway.

Hi Alex, Thanks for telling me about the dos and don'ts about blogging, as I am very new on blogging. I will change the photo. TY TY.
What a magnificent tree. I'm with Alex. Your blog is great.
No worries. Everyone needs some reminder at times. That includes me as well.
:)
Oh by the way, I didn't know that the tree was in the Singapore Botanic Gardens, and it is damaged by lightning. Thanks again for the information.
Alex, I am not sure if the tree is damaged by lightning but it is protected against lightning. May the tree live a long time. :)
Opps! haha... that was a typo. Sorry. Actually I wanted to preview my comments first, but I accidentally click on "Publish Your Comment". So I could not verify it. Silly me. :P
Did that ever happen to you before?
No problem Alex, yes it happened many times to me too. Appreciate your helpful comments too. Have a nice weekend. I know I will have a nice day today visiting son's army camp...oops did I just reveal my age...hehehe (I must be the oldest female blogger in town) :)
tembusu is also the name of a server cluster we have at work! ;-p
Haha... It's never to old to start, try or even learn new thing. Well done! :)
Is your son in BMT and it parents visitng day, or are you just doing the transport service stuff?
Hi Alex, my eldest son has completed the Basic Military Training (BMT) and now in the new camp so today is family day and he brought us around the camp and his room and mom as usual will make sure to bring along some nice food and herbal drink for him. Sorry, I wont be revealing which camp. :)
Haha... won't be asking you that then. :)
I always encourage parents to be more patient and listen to what their son have to say when they are doing their NS (If possible). It can be a difficult time for them at times. Not to worry 2 years will pass in a flash. :)
great post ! thanks
Hello. What a fabulous tree! It's good to see they have installed lightning protection; lightning can be devastating to trees although some live through the experience.
Thank you so much for the tip, I am always happy to find heritage trees. Have you seen the Tule tree in Mexico? If you google Tule Tree Mexico you can find pictures. It's rumoured to be the oldest tree in the world and is just mind bogglingly big!
Bye for now!
Wow, thanks for the information. That is really an amazing tree in Mexico. Very beautiful.
I am glad you liked it. I am planning a holiday there now! It's got to be worth it to see what is possibly the oldest living thing on the planet!
Cool, Do enjoy your trip there and take more photos and share with us. :)
