Today post is the famous icon of Singapore, the Merlion. As mentioned very often, there are four merlions in Singapore. One is this 37 metres tall Merlion in Sentosa, two at the Merlion Park fronting the Singapore River and a small one at the top of Mount Faber.
You can view my other posts on the Merlion.
These swans were made with flowers, they were also part of the flower show.
A short and interesting video of the Merlion.

Hi! thanks for your visit to my blog today! Oh nice to have your post on Sentosa island, reminds me of my unforgettable stay new year 2008 there with my boyfriend. We rode bicycle up to hill and found the Merlion, it was a surprise because we hadn't expected it. So nice! btw, do you lavender in s'pore?

ReplyDeleteHi Ellie, I have not come across any lavenders in Singapore but we do have a street called Lavender Street. Does that count....lol. I guess the weather here is not suitable for lavenders.

ReplyDeleteLady Fi, the Merlion was first designed as an emblem for the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) in 1964 – the lion head with a fish body resting on a crest of waves quickly became Singapore’s icon to the rest of the world. The fish tail of the Merlion symbolises the ancient city of Temasek (meaning “sea” in Javanese) by which Singapore was known before the Prince named it “Singapura” (meaning “lion” (singa) “city” (pura) in Sanskrit), and represents Singapore’s humble beginnings as a fishing village.
