Skywatch Friday - Sentosa Flower Show Part 3 - Merlion

From mainland Singapore, we could see the Merlion standing tall in Sentosa. The merlion is the symbol for Singapore Tourism Board. It is half lion and half mermaid. That's how it got its name. You can view more about the Merlion from my earlier posts.

Closer view of the merlion. Take note of its mouth, there's people there. We can go into the merlion and use the lift to go up to the viewing deck i.e. its mouth. I had been in before but did not take any photos back then.

Being the year of the rabbit, there are a lot of decorations in the shape of the rabbit.

This rabbit is very huge and there are a lot of different flowers used to decorate it.

Sentosa Flower Show Part 1

After walking over the Sentosa Boardwalk, we used our EZ link card (the card that we used to take bus or MRT Trains) and we just tag our cards on the gantry (gate) and walked into Sentosa. It costs us only S$1 for admission to Sentosa, would cost more if we used the monorail, bus, cable cars or drive in by cars. The walk from mainland Singapore to Sentosa is less than 10 minutes but of course would be longer if you linger around the boardwalk to take photos.

If you dont possess the EZ link card, you can always buy the tickets from the ticketing office near the gate located at the end of the boardwalk in Sentosa. You dont have to pay anything when returning from Sentosa to Singapore via any mode of transport or walking back via the boardwalk.

RW is the logo for Resort World in Sentosa. It was decorated with hundreds or thousands of flowers.

A very huge rabbit in front of Universal Studio Singapore to welcome the Year of the Rabbit.

Merlion, the mascot for the Singapore Tourism Board. You can view my other postings of The Merlion .

Wow the resort world is really very spacious and huge. Very beautiful.

This the the Lake of Dreams. At night, the lake of dreams will come alive. It is actually some water dancing with some music in the background.

Sentosa Boardwalk - Part 2

Continuing from yesterday's post on the boardwalk. It was simply beautiful and the boardwalk is not just a piece of bridge connecting mainland Singapore and Sentosa. There are shops and eateries along the boardwalk.

At night, you can have a drink or meal and enjoy the surrounding scenery. I hope to go there one night to capture the dancing crane. You can view the crane dance from You Tube .

I was on the boardwalk, below the boardwalk are some restaurants, etc.

I did not go down the steps cause the weather was so hot and I was too eager to visit the flower show in Sentosa...lol.

The boardwalk was constructed with such beautiful wood and the architectural designs are fantastic.

I am too lazy and do not want to be under the sun to capture the sculpture of golfers...lol. So I just zoom on them with my camera. :)

You dont have to pay to be on the boardwalk unless you want to go into Sentosa, just pay the admission fees on reaching the gate at Sentosa.

Lollipop tree

Okay the next time, I will come in the night and take more photos of what's below the boardwalk. The only bad thing about Singapore is the hot weather. I guess we have too much rain recently and the sun was out only on the first day of Chinese New Year, I guess the sun is out for a revenge....lol.

Okay now back to the travellators to continue my walk to Sentosa Island.

This is the end of the boardwalk and on my way to view the beautiful flowers. Come back again to my blog to view the Sentosa Flower Show.

Please visit "That's my World" for other parts of the world.

Sentosa Board Walk - Part 1 of 2

I was trying a new route to Sentosa to view the yearly Sentosa Flower Show as part of the Chinese New Year Celebration.

We could cross over to Sentosa (an island off the mainland of Singapore) via the cable car, monorail, bus or drive over and now we can just walk over to Sentosa via the new boardwalk.

It was recently open and spending about S$70 million to construct. You can read more about the construction of the boardwalk via this website.

It costs us only $1 to enter Sentosa via the boardwalk, $3 if by monorail, $2 if by bus, and if by car it depends on the time you enter. You can view the official website for the different admission fees for car and cable car.

And if you are returning from Sentosa, you dont have to take the boardwalk again if you are tired, you can return via the monorail or bus without paying the difference in the admission fees.

I guess it is better if we use the boardwalk in the early morning or evening where the weather is much cooler. Hey, I just read about Singapore being the 2nd coolest people in the world. That's Cool. You can read the article from CNNGo.com

Inside the boardwalk, there are travelators so that we dont have to walk all the way if we are lazy or tired. Very useful especially for the elderly who dont have strong legs.

Two short videos showing the inside of the boardwalk, am using the travelator.
Come back tomorrow for more photos of the beautiful Sentosa Boardwalk.
