The flowers are fragrant (esp. at night), & mature from cream to yellow with age. The plant can be grown as a shrub or trained as a climber, & belongs to the Solanaceae family, which also contains familiar crop plants like Potato & Brinjal. However, Solandra species are highly toxic, as are many non-edible members of the said family.

There is a related species that looks very similar -- Solandra grandiflora. The most obvious difference is that the calyx (narrow basal tube) of the flower is covered by a leafy sheath, whereas for Solandra longiflora, the flower calyx is exposed -- as shown in your photos. Here are some photos for reference: Solandra longiflora (NatureLoveYou), Solandra longiflora (WikiSpecies, Univ. of Massachusetts)

Thanks for posting so many photos of the Sentosa Flowers 2011 show, such that I get to "see" the show even though I wasn't there. I wonder how much effort went into keeping the flowers looking good under all that heavy rain during the run-up & earlier part of the show week.Pathttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16876076254499321528noreply@blogger.com
